This is a brief overview of the geography of Medísca, including maps. For a more detailed introduction to the lands of Medísca, there would seem to be no better way than through the eyes of a traveller, and especially a traveller from our own world:
On the standard world map, the centre is occupied by the continent known as the Triad (Trémaene, to give it the Loegare name. Properly the name 'The Triad' applies the southern three-quarters of the continent, but it is quite frequently used to refer to the whole continent. It is approximately the size (and somewhat resembles the shape) of Africa, but is somewhat further south than Africa, and it's climate tends to be more lush, possibly also thanks to the vast sea of Témor Úris in the east.
The Triad gets its name partly from its shape, but more from the three major cities found in it, linked by major trade routes.
It is home to the two most notable non-human civilisations. In the north is Alquedante, the home of the Saeru, which very few humans have ever set foot in. In the far south is the realm of the Skletikst, the enigmatic lizard-folk, who are rumoured to have played a significant if hidden role in the history of Medísca.
The eastern continent supports three major civilisations. In the north there is the semi-barbaric kingdom of Helsrád, and in the south there is Shen-Tae. In between is the realm of Alghránon. There are a few smaller kingdoms, but most of these are tributaries to their larger and more powerful neighbours.
In contrast, the western continent is divided into a large number of kingdoms, whose boundaries tend to shift with alarming regularity, occasionally through political machinations and maneuverings, but more often through outright war.
Having said that, for the past couple of centuries the west has been more settled and peaceful, at least in military terms. Political conflict is still very much alive, though.
The most significant, and arguably the most powerful, of the western kingdoms are Ardégn in the north, its southern neighbour and rival, Baerínia, and the wealthy trade-kingdom of Viencia to the east, bordering the sea between the western continent and the Triad.
